Introduction

  • The cajon is such a versatile and simple rhythm instrument which is gaining popularity all the time. Of course, cajon qualitly and playability varies greatly, but with the right choices you will have a fantastic rhythm instrument for life! With this in mind, I have designed and built my own range in cajons - my ethos being high quality, great sounding cajons at accessible prices.
  • MJ cajons are constructed from hardwood laminate and using different materials for the front face (tapa) to provide different sounds. Countersunk screws and curved edges minimise the impact on hands and fingers. The overall size helps to reduce impact on the player’s back. All cajons utilise 2 tuneable guitar strings to provide the snare sound.

Features

  • All cajon models utilise 2 tuneable guitar strings to provide the snare sound
  • Cajons are constructed from hardwood laminate and use different materials for the front face (tapa) to provide different sounds
  • Top quality natural or ebony satin hard wax/oil finishes are used to give the cajons a durable, non fading great looking finish
  • Every cajon is tested and certified with a unique reference number prior to release. Once released for sale or delivery, the certificate is signed and dated
  • All screws are well countersunk to minimise percussive impact on hands and fingers
  • The edges of the cajons are strongly curved to help reduce impact on hands and fingers and to increase comfort when sitting on the cajon
  • The overall size of the cajons (480mm x 290mm x 290mm) is designed to reduce impact on the player's back
  • Even Cheaper Cajons!
From time to time, when the finishing doesn't come up to standard, these cajons will be offered at a reduced price. These class B cajons will still play the same as a class A - it's just the finish which will not have passed Quality Control. If you are interested in a class B cajon (especially suited to those who want to 'have a go' at playing, and students) I will be listing them as auctions on Ebay. Any current listings will be summarised here where you can click and browse in Ebay.

Testimonials

"Hi Matt, just wanted to let you know Neil's chuffed to bits with cajon - he loves it and said it's made really well" Jan, West Sussex

"I borrowed one of these for a week. Having never played a cajon even though I'm a kit drummer, I enjoyed this! Simplicity itself to play and tuning is easy via the guitar pegs and strings inside. Lovely sound, tidy construction. I just wish I could play the bass guitar and cajon at the same time - could kick it with slippers!" Stu, Devon
